Labor Relations
UMIC members are represented in contract negotiations and labor relation matters.
Laws and Regulations
UMIC provides access to the most current resources regarding laws and regulations impacting contractors working in the utility, mechanical, and industrial construction industries. Through regular meetings and communications, UMIC contractors are engaged in discussion and updates as to pending state and federal laws, safety standards, and testing specifically related to the work of industrial contractors.
Industry Communication and Events
UMIC hosts Regular and Annual Member Meetings to further industry standards and support a growing a regional network of professionals in the industrial contracting community.
UMIC also sponsors member participation in industry and trade events throughout the United States to promote union relations and assist in workforce development.
Membership Requirements
To become a member, each UMIC contractor must:
- Assign Their Bargaining Rights to UMIC
- Be a Licensed Contractor Principally Engaged in Industrial Construction in California
- Be a Signatory to a Local of the Ironworkers, International Union of Operating Engineers, United Association of Plumbers and Steamfitters, or Laborers
- Complete a UMIC Membership Application
- Pay the Initiation Fee and Annual Dues as Established in the UMIC Bylaws
